Our Story
In 2003, having never previously been exposed to martial arts, Paul Hido searched the Youngstown area for anywhere he could learn effective self-defense while remaining fit and active within the community. Eventually, his search exposed him to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he was hooked.
After getting his two sons involved in the sport in 2004, the Hido family has never ceased in their training. Coming up through the Pedro Sauer Jiu-Jitsu Association, the Hido's found their passion for teaching Jiu-Jitsu after helping to establish an academy in Youngstown in 2005.
Now, after relocating to the Cleveland area, they have established the North Coast Jiu-Jitsu Club. Founded on the idea that anyone can learn effective jiu-jitsu in a friendly and fun environment, the Club hopes to be your home for self-defense and fitness training!
Pedro Sauer Jiu-Jitsu Association
The North Coast Jiu-Jitsu Club is a proud member of the Pedro Sauer Jiu-Jitsu Association. The Pedro Sauer Association is one of the largest and most respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organizations in the world.
All of our coaches have received their rank from Pedro Sauer and Pedro Sauer Affiliate Black Belts. Our staff has been a part of the Pedro Sauer Team for over twenty years, and they are certified to give legitimate rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
